Renting gym space can be a great way of finding a place to hold personal training sessions.

If you lack your own workout area, or you want to use better equipment, then these are just some of the benefits on offer by using this service.

Here at Trojan Fitness, we have a bespoke PT studio that we rent out to professionals looking for the ideal place to hold their sessions.

One question we get asked a lot though, is how does it all work?

Well, we’ve created this guide to exactly that, so let’s take a look.

A 5 Step Gym Rental Process

1. Find the Right Space

There are a few ways to find a gym that offers space rental. You can start your search online, ask your friends and family for recommendations, or contact local gyms.

Once you’ve found a few gyms that offer space rental, you’ll need to compare their offerings to find the best fit for your needs.

Factors to consider include location, type of space, amenities, and cost. Be flexible with your schedule and be prepared to book in advance.

Be clear about your needs when contacting gyms so they can match you with the right space.

2. Choose the Type of Space You Need

Not all gyms offer the same types of space for rent.

Some gyms have dedicated personal training studios, while others have open floor plans that can be used for a variety of activities.

You’ll need to decide what type of space is best for your needs.

At Trojan Fitness, we have both spaces in our London PT studio. This includes a PT studio stocked with high-quality equipment, and also a studio space ideal for exercise classes. We even have a physiotherapy room that is also available to rent, making it the whole package.

It’s important you know which one you’re booking so you always have the right space for your workout.

3. Book the Space

Once you’ve found a gym that offers the type of space you need, you’ll need to book it. Many gyms offer flexible payment terms, and this can often be done online, over the phone, or in person.

Some gyms may take a deposit at this stage, but many will just need a name and you can pay after or directly before the session.

It is important that you make a note of the time and location of your booking so you don’t forget it, and take the opportunity to discuss the space with the owner while you are booking it.

This is a good opportunity to learn more about the location, including what parking there is available and what amenities you can use.

It’s a good way to avoid nasty surprises when you turn up and see something you weren’t expecting.

4. Pay for the Space

Before finalizing the booking, inquire about the cost of gym space rental.

Prices may vary depending on the gym and the type of space you choose.

Gain clarity on the payment terms so you always know exactly what you are paying for and what you can use.

Only once you are comfortable with the service and are happy to make the payment, then go ahead and make it.

As mentioned earlier, payment may be needed at different times, so make sure you’re ready and have the funds to pay it when required or else you may lose your booking.

5. Use the Rented Studio

Now everything is signed and paid for, all you have to do is get in the gym and use it.

This is the fun part where you get to take advantage of a high-quality functional workout area. Make sure your client knows where to meet you if holding a personal training session, or that you have advertised and sold tickets to customers if holding a class.

On the day of your reservation, make sure to arrive on time and let the owner know you have arrived.

Present your details to the staff to validate your access and then you are free to utilize the space for your workout needs.

Some Gym Space Rental Tips

Want to make the most of your rented gym space? Then here are four quick tips to help you do just that:

  • Familiarise Yourself with the Rental Agreement: Take the time to read and understand the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. This will ensure that you are aware of what is included in the rental and what your responsibilities are as a renter and will avoid any disputes or confusion between you and the owner.

  • Punctuality is Key: Respect the time of both yourself and others by arriving on time for your reservation. This will help ensure that you have the designated space available for your workout session. Many gyms have several bookings in one day so if you arrive late there is a high chance you will miss out on some of the minutes you have paid for.

  • Respect Gym Etiquette: Adhere to the gym’s rules and guidelines, and be considerate of other individuals utilising the facility. Treat fellow gym-goers with respect and maintain a friendly environment. Remember, there may be other trainers who are trying to hold sessions in the same gym, so try and treat them how you would like to be treated.

  • Cleanliness Matters: Take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness in the rented space. Put away any equipment you use and ensure that you leave the area in a tidy state. Wipe down surfaces to promote hygiene and safety. The owner won’t want to have to tidy up after every rental period, so try and keep things tidy and ready for the next session.
